healthy choicesYou can substantially increase both health span and life span by adopting some of the following for the New Year:

  • Stop using tobacco products of all types
  • Limit alcohol intake to no more than 2 glasses of wine or beer or 2 oz of spirits a week
  • Eliminate all processed foods, fast foods, and sweetened beverages.
  • Eliminate all artificial sweeteners
  • Eliminate all high fructose corn syrup
  • Incorporate at least 30 minutes of moderate to intense exercise, at least three times each week, into your routine
  • Meditate, or at least take a one-hour mental and physical break from your daily grind, once each day
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Use high quality air and water purifiers in your home and office
  • Take care of your teeth, dental or periodontal issues can lead to serious disease
  • Do not ignore symptoms of an underlying problem.  Treat the root cause of any illness you have instead of just managing symptoms. Example: You have acid reflux, what is causing the reflux? High cholesterol, why? Fix root cause so you are not stuck on medications with side effects the rest of your life!
  • Control your stress
  • Take a good quality, whole food (not synthetic), multi-vitamin
  • Get good sleep, every night. Try to get 7.5 – 9 hours a night
  • See Dr. Ridley at least 1x/month and keep your body in balance 🙂

Happy New Year, may this year be filled with health and happiness!
